Can weight return after bariatric surgery, and does that mean the surgery failed?

Some weight can return after bariatric surgery. That does not erase the benefits you gained or mean the only explanation is lack of effort. Surgery can help substantially, but it does not guarantee permanent weight loss without further care. NIDDK.
