Do I have to wait until my periods stop before considering hormone therapy?
No. Appropriate treatment can be considered during perimenopause; you do not necessarily have to wait until your periods stop. The decision depends on symptoms, health history and the treatment options that fit your situation. The Menopause Society.
Having symptoms does not automatically mean hormones are needed. Ongoing cycles and contraception also affect the discussion, and menopause hormone therapy does not replace birth control.
