GLP-1 Weight Loss Care in Belmont, NC

MedFIT uses both GLP-1 treatment and oral weight-loss medications. Both are real treatment paths. The right choice depends on what’s medically appropriate for you and what fits your preferences, tolerance, budget and ability to continue.

A plan built around you

At our Belmont practice, Valerie starts with your health history, previous treatment and what you want help with. We don’t sell treatments; we build plans. Semaglutide and tirzepatide are options within that conversation, not the starting point for every patient.

Oral medications are a major treatment path at MedFIT and are generally much less expensive. Finding the best medication or combination may take some adjustment. Newer or more expensive doesn’t automatically mean better for you.

What happens next?

Start with a free weight-loss consultation. Bring your medication list and tell us what you’ve tried, including treatment started at another practice. We’ll discuss the medically appropriate choices and explain care and medication costs before you decide.

Follow-up gives you time to discuss appetite, progress, side effects and whether the plan still fits. Changes are not automatic, and maintenance belongs in the conversation before initial treatment ends.

Semaglutide

Semaglutide acts on the GLP-1 pathway and may reduce appetite and increase fullness. For qualifying patients, treatment supports weight management alongside nutrition, activity and ongoing care. Injectable semaglutide for weight management is generally used once weekly with gradual dose adjustment. The prescribed product and your medical situation matter; products are not automatically interchangeable.

Tirzepatide

Tirzepatide acts on both GIP and GLP-1 pathways. It may help with appetite, fullness and long-term weight management. Injectable treatment is generally once weekly, with dose changes based on tolerance, side effects and provider guidance. It is not automatically the right choice for every patient.

Safety, access and follow-up

Both medications can cause side effects, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and abdominal discomfort. Discuss your personal and family medical history, current medications, allergies, pregnancy plans and any history of thyroid tumors or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 with your provider. Contact your healthcare provider about severe or persistent symptoms, significant abdominal pain, signs of an allergic reaction or unexpected changes during treatment.

Costs depend on the prescribed product, dose, coverage, pharmacy and available payment pathways. Medication coverage is separate from MedFIT’s cash-pay care. We discuss expected care and medication costs before you decide. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved; availability and appropriateness depend on patient need and current prescribing rules, rather than an assumed interchangeable alternative. Follow-up reviews progress, side effects, dosing and whether the plan remains appropriate. Compare oral weight-loss medications, or learn about phentermine. Treatment and maintenance decisions are individualized.
