Can joint aches be related to menopause, or should I look for another cause?

Joint aches can occur around menopause, but that timing does not identify the cause. Arthritis, injury and other conditions can also produce pain, so the answer should not automatically be “more hormones.” The Menopause Society symptom overview.

Where it hurts, whether joints swell, what activities are limited and when the change began all help guide the evaluation.

MedFIT’s goal is to understand what is realistically treatable. Improving menopause symptoms may help daily life, but hormone therapy should not be presented as a universal treatment for joint pain.
